If you run from the police and are a simple thief, drug user, wanted for probation violation, or anything else besides BEING A KILLER OR PULLING A GUN AND FIRING BACK AT THE POLICE, ............. Do police have a right to shoot you dead??

Just watched a newer video where the guy gave them a police chase in a car, but then jumped out, started running, and they gunned him down. The guy looked scared to death and harmless. Total BS in my opinion...........

He was a car thief........

Not sure what kind......

But they chased him, finally cut him off in the city. He jumped out, just started to run, and they gunned him down.

I think the FBI can legally fire upon a fleeing suspect but local cops cannot.

I grew up in L.A. and we learned early on that you NEVER run from the cops for ANY reason.

What they can do legally and what they do are two different things.

Legally they can not shoot unless there is an imminent danger of serious injury or death of themselves or another person.

So some one running away, legally can not be shot.

But that and reality are two different things.

Just asked my Son who is a wanna be police officer and in a program for ride-alongs. He says it depends on what sort of threat the person imposes on society. He would likely had to have harmed someone severely and considered a dangerous risk to officers or society. If the police do not have a reason to believe he poses a serious threat to the community, then they would have a tough time selling a shot fired to IA and the State Police. FWIW.

I find it AMAZING that possession of a bit of pot will get you in more trouble than running from the cops.

I'll never understand keeping pot illegal.
